Late August and September finds our gallery filled with activities once again. The summer art camp teachers organized a fun art show for their students. On August 28th there was a reception for students and parents who had a chance to vote for their favorite piece in the show. The children loved seeing their work on display, as did their parents. Face painting, spin art, and caricatures by teachers were quite popular.
After school classes for children and teens began last week and classes for adults begin throughout the month. On September 15th, Judith Sparhawk will conduct an information session about her 12-week program called the Artist’s Way. Ed Sotello offers Watercolor on Thursday evenings, Antoinette Hanson teaches Silk Painting on Mondays and John Lapi is offering Sketching & Perspective on Tuesdays. Check the calendar in this newsletter for details or call the gallery.
Our first program of the year is on Tuesday, September 28, at 7 pm. Art historian Lyndy Zoeckler will be at our gallery showing us important works of art and helping us understand the social, technological and political context. We look forward to a lively discussion following this presentation.
On Saturday, October 2, 9am-3pm, Lisa Mozzini McDill conducts a workshop for those of us who are technological dinosaurs! Her workshop is Digital Imagery for Artists: Photographing Your Art, Creating a Digital Archive, Manipulating and Adapting Your Images for the Internet or Web Site Circulation. Bring your laptops and your digital cameras. Sign up at the gallery.
And finally, a word about our beloved Joan Wiley. As some of you already know, Joan is not feeling well right now. Let’s all keep Saint Joan in our thoughts and prayers.
