Another successful experiment on the books! Teaming up RAA’s Art-on-State-Street with Downtown Redlands ArtWalk proved to be a good experiment for us… with a 20% increase in sales over last year (the best we’ve done for a one day event) and our visitors increased traffic for the food/beer garden and the other artists around downtown.
50 RAA member artists lined the street in front of the Gallery, offering a wonderful variety of art to the wandering visitors. Sally LeBonte’s knit pumpkins, Andrea Beechco’s tree pendants with semi-precious gem stones, Mary Grinyer’s ceramic stacked ribbon perfume bottles, Joanne Ohnemus’ wooden bird houses & garden ornaments, Andrew Woodyard’s pen & ink drawings, David Taylor’s glass undersea creations, Ezra Hunt’s wine glasses, Patty Mariano-Denning’s jewelry designs, Ruth Wood’s fused glass ornaments… just to name a few! Serious art – whimsical art – functional art. RAA is lucky to have such talented artists.
The Gallery hosted children’s art projects for entertaining our little guests – teachers Suzanne Burke and Michele Laughlin had papers, feathers, scissors, and glue at the ready to make cute owls on a toilet paper tube. Talk about re-purposing materials.
Easy listening music was provided by Wendy Hunt and Clayton Crawford on guitar. Wendy sings many of her own songs.
Thank yous must be given to our helpers: Francis Wiley with the street closure barricades; Cashiers – Joe Mann, Sue Kovacevich, Judith Sparhawk, Kris Bussard, Joyce Phillips, Kathleen Gura, Rebekah Garza, Laurie Martin, Clayre Heaslip, Michael Chouinard, Denise Hawkins, Linda Lawhon, and Elena Pattison.
