Carr Garnett 7/27–8/23/2024

Opening reception:  Saturday Aug 3, 1–5 pm

Carr Garnett is an artist living in Redlands, Ca. His work is realistic-impressionistic and done primarily in the plein air tradition. This means most of the work is painted on site in a few hours. Sometimes these studies stay as they are as finished work and at other times are used as reference for same size or larger studio pieces. Many plein air artists take reference photos of the location and using the on site study, the photos, and their memory and feelings of the location work on a new painting in the studio.

Carr grew up on a farm in Virginia and after grad school worked as a costume designer for theatre and television. He then worked as a gardener/ designer in the Hudson Valley of NY.

He is a member of RAA and an associate member of the California Art Club, currently one of the co- chairs of the Inland Empire Chapter.
