Juror–Roy Dietrich
Juror’s Statement.
It has been an honor for me to have been selected to view and select the works to be awarded for the 56th RAA mini show, I was deeply moved by how much talent I had seen in the work that was there for me to review. As it is for anyone who would have been in the same position, it was not an easy task. It was challenging but very enjoyable for me.
As a juror, my selections were chosen based on my own knowledge, experience, education as an artist and as an art gallery director.
Other factors involved in the process for me to choose a work are my knowlege and feelings on the creativity, originality, quality, technique, composition, use of color / values, framing and especially on how it has affected me emotionally. All the works l have selected are in my opinion work that has been successful in those ways for me to choose a particular work to be awarded. If there was another juror instead of me, I am sure the results would be different based on that juror’s opinion.
It was quite a challenge for me to choose out of all the quality work that was there for me to view. For those who were not selected, you were very close to being chosen, I would encourage each one of you to continue to be diligent in doing the work you are doing to improve. By doing so I am confident your work will be in contention for awards next time you participate in future shows like this at the RAA.
“Success is subjective. The real reward is enjoying the process of doing and learning from it.”
All the best,
Roy Dietrich
