August 2011

Our new Executive Director, Randy Hill, will officially begin work on September 1st.  Randy is our first full-time paid employee and will be spending approximately 70% of his time coordinating our marketing and fund-raising efforts.  Much of the rest of his time will be spent working with our Board of Directors, Operating Committee, committee chairs and volunteers.  Randy comes to us with many years of fund-raising and volunteer experience which is detailed in an article in this newsletter.  Our vision of expanding our exhibit and classroom space is one step closer to realization now.  If you see him around the gallery before September 1st, please introduce yourself and make him feel welcome.

Effective with the take-in on August 19th, if you are unable to work two shifts as a gallery attendant, you will be charged $30 ($15 per shift) instead of the $60 that we had previously charged.  More information is available on this in a separate article.

Our classroom has been buzzing with activity every day all summer.  Summer art camp is in full swing right now and culminates with the Children’s Art Show August 22 through August 27.  A reception for the show will be held on August 27th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.  Parents, artists, members and the community are welcome.

Dance the Days,

Gail Brownfield
