Much to do about Mini Art

The  Multi-Media Mini Show, hosted by the Redlands Art Association, is on display at the Gallery and Art Center, 215 E. State Street, downtown, Redlands, through March 26.

The Multi Media Mini Show (MMM) is unique to Redlands.  What makes it different is, it’s a juried show – an artist’s competition with 1) the limitation of the art piece to 14.5″ including base or frame and 2) that all media is accepted.  For example, where else can an artist compete with a piece of art made from compressed dirt?  The MMM Show is still the only one of this scale in Southern California.

The MMM Show is open to all California artists, which brings in art from Arcadia to Palm Springs.   86 artists submitted 339 pieces ~ but only 200 pieces were chosen to show.  Our jurist was Leslie A. Brown.

Leslie A. Brown is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and the University of New Mexico in painting and printmaking.  During her masters work she received a fellowship to study printmaking at the Tamarind Institute of Printinmaking in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Her career has spanned 40 years as an artist and educator and her exhibition record is extensive.  Her works are featured in prominent private, corporate, and museum collections throughout the United States and Europe.  Ms. Brown is a faculty member at Riverside City College in Riverside, CA, and the Gallery Director of the Quad Gallery.  Ms Brown has curated broadly in the Southern California region and resides in beautiful Temecula, CA with her husband, son, and three dogs.
