Julia’s Door

Julia’s Door

Commemorating the 80th anniversary of its Julia Morgan designed building, the Board of Directors of the Riverside Art Museum has selected a “quick draw” plein air oil “Julia’s Door” by Helen L. Bell N.A.W.A. for poster and Giclee reproductions.

The building, originally one of twenty-eight YWCA’s in California, is typical Morgan Italianate design with quoined corners and Palladian windows. The original color of the entrance door as selected by Morgan, a startling cobalt blue is freely rendered in Bell’s painting.

The artist will be present for signing posters and Giclees at the celebratory event November 12, 2009 from 6 to 9 pm at the Riverside Art Museum, 3425 Mission Inn Ave, Riverside CA 92501.
