04 Mar Frog-topped teapot wins First Place!
Redlands ceramic artist, Dan Soury, will take home the $400 prize for his expertly crafted ceramic teapot, entered in the Redlands Art Association’s Multi Media Mini Show. “No picture? On purpose! You have to come to the Show to see it for yourself!” says Sandy Davies, event coordinator. The show opens Friday, March 2 at 10 am with an Open House Reception from 5 to 8 pm. The public is welcome to view the show and meet the artists.
David Fairrington, the judge for the show, gave Second Place to Highland artist, Julie Evans; Third Place to Yucaipa artist, Jan Harvey; two Juror’s Choice awards to Sandy Davies and Richard Freund; two Excellence awards were given to Patty Roth and Teri Adams. Alan Remele won the Past President’s Award and Virginia Melton won the Best in Watercolor award sponsored by Watercolor West.
Gift certificates and product prizes were also awarded: Winsor & Newton’s watercolor set was won by Betty Pilley from Homeland. Two paint sets from Createx Monotype Colors were won by Jeff Owens from Redlands and Jill Jones from Corona. Bud Rickert’s Art Center’s gift was given to John Brownfield from Redlands; Wilson’s Frame Up donation was given to Adeola Davies-Aiyeloja from Loma Linda; the Aaron Brothers certificate was given to Ann Bingham Freeman from Yucaipa and Ampersand Art Supply’s products were given to Cinda Olivas of Hemet. “Entry to the show was open to all Southern California artists, hence the reference to the artist’s city of residence,” noted Sandy Davies. “The entries came from Hesperia – Phelan – Seal Beach – Pasadena – Hemet, as well as the circle around Redlands.”
The Open House is Friday, March 2 from 5 to 8 PM at the Gallery and Art Center, 215 E. State Street, downtown, Redlands.
