Summer Fun, Copper Jewelry Series with Tia Shira
Working with copper is fun, and sooo trendy. These classes will introduce you to the joy of working with copper in a variety of ways, while learning basic jewelry making skills. This series will be taught by Tia Shira; an enthusiastic, sharing and knowledgeable instructor. You may take any one or all of the workshops.
Hammered Copper Jewelry – Saturday, July 26th; 9:30 am – 1:00 pm
Learn the joy of hammering! You will add tecture to copper pieces (and antique or patina) to make a pair of earrings, bracelet or pendant. Tools and materials provided.
Workshop Fee: RAA members $30 / non-members $35 – with a $5 materials fee paid to the instructor.
Charming Metal Clay in Copper – Saturday, August 9; 9:00 am – 4:30 pm
Learn how to work with precious metal clay using copper. You will make your own unique charms for a bracelet, earrings or pendant. Participants will learn to roll, shape and texture the clay. After firing, the creations become solid copper! Pieces will be fired and ten polished and antiqued if desired. Tools and materials provided.
Workshop Fee: RAA members $70 / non-members $75 – with a $20 materials fee paid to the instructor.
Enamel on Copper: Colorful Baubles – Saturday, August 23; 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Learn to apply (glass) enamels to copper blanks, as well as a variety of design techniques, to make colorful earrings, charms or pendants. This class is an introduction to the wonderful world of enameling. Tools and materials provided.
Workshop Fee: RAA members $50 / non-members $55 – with a $10 materials fee paid to the instructor.
Fancy Flatware and Jazzy Jewelry with Richard Freund
You will learn what fun creations can be made when you combine Found Objects with simple pieces of Flatware. There are many possibilities for art involving Spoons and Forks. You will also alter old “junk” jewelry. Learn the wonderful things you can do with obsolete, broken or worn out costume jewelry by combining small found objects and acrylic paint. There will be many interesting possibilities to explore.

Unordinary Ornaments with Richard Freund
In this one day workshop, you will take unlikely objects and transform them into a Strangely Attractive or perhaps Odd Ornament. Either way , your creation will most likely be a most Unordinary Ornament.
Will your ornament adorn a Christmas Tree?
Sunday, December 7; 9:30 am – 5:30 pm

A 72 hour notice prior to the start of the class or workshop must be given to the RAA to receive a refund or transfer to a different class/workshop. There will not be a registration confirmation. Students will be notified if the class/workshop is cancelled. Class/workshop fees will not be prorated/refunded for missed classes.
