Painting Paradise In Plein Air -

A History of late 19th and early 20th Century Painting in California

by Linda Kay Zoeckler

This will be a lecture, using many visual images, that will explore the unique history of California landscape painting.  California offered a unique array of subject matter that lured artists from not only California, but the East Coast and also Europe, to come and paint.  Artists would do complete on location paintings, with emphasis on light reflections,  using a true “plain air” method.  This impressionistic style still flourishes today in California painting.  Linda Kay Zoeckler Is a noted and extremely knowledgeable art historian.  She has had a special passion for early California landscape painting and has spent much time exploring and studying the artists, techniques, methods and movements of that time.  Tuesday, November 18th, should be a very informative and interesting evening as Zoeckler shares her vast amount of understanding and information, relating to California plein air painting.

 TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18 @ 7:00 PM

Program is FREE to RAA members / $3 to non-members
