OIL PAINTING OPEN STUDIO with CHICK CURTIS

Integrates creativity with instruction of basic skills, design and composition. Beginning through advanced students will grow in the class.

DRAWING FOR TEENS & ADULTS with Marcia TAACK

An introduction to drawing, suitable for beginning through advanced students.

OIL PAINTING – LANDSCAPE & STILL LIFE with MARTHA COWAN

An introduction to landscape painting and advanced Still Life painting.

CREATE YOUR OWN TABLE TOP GAME with William Bundy

Learn how to develop an idea into a complete design, then turn it into something you can play! This class will take you through the process of making your first game and becoming a game designer. The fundamentals of game design are applicable to both table top games and computer game design. Adults and teens

CLAY SAFARI with Penny Palmer

Have fun learning good hand building techniques as you build clay projects from coils, slabs and pinch pots. No previous experience necessary.

PASTEL for BEGINNERS with Linda Willason

Mondays: March 13, 29, 27, April 3, 10   6 – 9pm

INTRODUCTION TO WATERCOLOR PAINTING with Cindy Sullivan

Cindy will be teaching the basic techniques and color mixing through simple step projects.

2017 Workshops

DAVID ALTER: Improving your photos

David Alter will be discussing how to improve sales and marketing through better imagery.  He will show examples and the basics of photo shop using an online version.  This will be followed up with a 1 day workshop March 4 10-2pm.  Participants need to bring a lap top and 6 images on flash drive.

PICK YOUR PALETTE, DYE A SILK SCARF with Candy Glendening

Learn how to dye silk with Procion MX Fiber Reactive Dyes. After choosing or creating a color palette  you will mixi the colors, choose the pattern you’d like to dye, and then dye your scarf. You’ll leave with a gorgeous one-of-a-kind silk scarf, as well as an understanding of how to use fiber reactive dyes on silk. Make sure to wear work clothes, as dye splashes can stain. (If there’s time, you could dye a second scarf if you’d like)

Location: at Candy’s studio, 1.5 miles from RAA, 1309 W Olive Ave., a grey house with white trim on the corner of Olive and Lakeside.

INDIGO SHIBORI: EXPERIMENTING with PATTERN with Candy Glendening

Indigo is an ancient form of dyeing. In this class, we’ll explore different ways to add pattern to cloth using different “physical resist” techniques. After folding, clamping or tying some white fabric, you’ll immerse it in an indigo vat and see how those manipulations create fun patterns. You’ll leave with a scarf or 2 for another second materials fee) in your choice of silk or cotton/silk blend patterned by your own hands, or a scarf and a canvas tote bag, and instructions on how easy it is to make your own indigo vat with pre-reduced indigo. Make sure to wear work clothes, as dye splashes can stain.

ADA JARVIS: Mosaic Workshop

For Beginner & intermediate students. Beginners will learn how to turn treasured pieces of broken china into stepping stones for the garden. Intermediate or returning students will learn how to decorate a picture frame or metal tray.

  • Beginners: bring cement stepping stone
  • Intermediate/returning: bring either a metal tray or picture frame. You are welcome to bring a stepping stone if you would like to make another one.

All supplies provided, except for the base. You may bring some of your own china to break if you wish.

There will not be a registration confirmation.  Students will be notified if the class is cancelled.

Class fees will not be prorated/refunded for missed classes.
